About Annie

Headshot 2.JPG

With a lifelong passion for learning and a deep curiosity about the world, Annie is dedicated to offering personalized, effective tutoring that supports each student’s unique journey. Her goal is to create a welcoming and encouraging environment where learners feel confident, motivated, and empowered to reach their full academic potential.

As an international traveler who has visited over 40 countries, Annie brings a global perspective to everything she teaches. She travels abroad several times a year, and one of her favorite parts of exploring the world is seeing how all subjects are deeply interconnected. She believes learning becomes richer and more meaningful when students understand how people around the world think, learn, and celebrate their differences.

Outside of tutoring, Annie enjoys scuba diving, horseback riding, and planning her next adventure. These experiences fuel her sense of curiosity and open-mindedness. Whether a student is working on core academic subjects or learning English as a second language, Annie offers guidance with patience, creativity, and JOY!

My Teaching Philosophy

After years of teaching in public schools and public charter schools, I came to a difficult realization: my heart was too big for the job as it was structured. I cared so deeply for my students that it broke me. I wanted to support every child who walked through my door, but I didn’t have the time, resources, or emotional space to do it in a way that felt right. When my dad was diagnosed with cancer in 2024, it became clear that I needed a change. That’s when Annie Teaches The World was born, rooted in my love for travel, my unwavering commitment to supporting kids with my whole heart, and a desire to create a life filled with freedom, flexibility, and purpose. My mental and physical health had suffered from giving everything to a system that didn’t allow space for balance.

Now, I get to offer something different: learning that is deep, joyful, and filled with wonder. I want school to be a place where students feel challenged, inspired, and curious, especially in math. I believe math is a language of details and patterns, and I help students slow down, make sense of those details, and build clarity and confidence in their learning. I also integrate executive functioning skills into everything I teach, guiding students to approach tasks with care, order, and intention. To me, executive functioning is about doing things well and neatly, not for perfection, but to help students feel clear, capable, and proud of their work.
